Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus)

  • An energising tonic, helps moderate swings in blood sugar and buffers the body from stress.
  • Rejuvenating especially to the hormonal system – adrenal cortex, pituitary, thyroid and hypothalamus.

Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa)

  • The dried root has historically been used during menopausal transition. Regular use of black cohosh helps reduce the intensity and frequency of hot flushes.
  • American and European herbalists say regular use of black cohosh tonifies and strengthens pelvic muscles helping to prevent uterine and bladder prolapse. [2]
  • Increases digestive juices improving digestion. Weak digestion is commonly associated with ageing.
  • Dilates blood vessels and increases circulation. Is an energy tonic invigorating the chi.
  • Pharmacological studies have demonstrated that Black Cohosh contains substances with endocrine activity causing a selective reduction in luteinising hormone and are able to bind to oestrogen receptors of rat uteri. [1]
  • British Herbal Compendium daily dose of dried root : 40-200mg daily.
  • Is specific for the aches and pains that may accompany menopause.

Ester-C®

  • Is produced from calcium ascorbate using a water processing technique in which is formed calcium threonate, a readily absorbable natural metabolite of vitamin C.
  • Is more readily absorbed by the cells than any other form of vitamin C.
  • Calcium threonate increases uptake and retention of vitamin C reducing excretion of vitamin C in the urine. It is retained in the body for 24 hours – 6 times longer than ascorbic acid.
  • Vitamin C is important for the production of cortisol by the adrenal glands and is used up under stress. Vitamin C deficiency is associated with adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue worsens the symptoms of menopause. Antioxidant vitamin.

Rutin

  • Is a highly active bioflavonoid that works with vitamin C. It helps strengthen connective tissue and blood vessel walls.
  • Research has indicated bioflavonoids may be beneficial in reducing hot flushes.

Natural Vitamin E (d'alpha tocopheryl succinate)

  • Helps reduce the incidence and severity of hot flushes.[3][4]
